Utah HB 340 (2025 General Session), titled Solar Power Amendments, was signed by the Governor on March 25, 2025 and took effect May 7, 2025. It amends Utah Code 54-15-102 to define a portable solar generation device: a moveable photovoltaic device with a maximum power output of not more than 1,200 watts, designed to connect through a standard 120-volt AC outlet. It enacts Utah Code 54-15-601, which exempts these devices from utility interconnection requirements and agreements, prior approval, fees and net-metering program requirements.
Authorized power: 1200W (Portable solar generation device with a maximum power output of not more than 1,200 W, on a standard 120-volt AC outlet). Exempt from interconnection requirements and from any requirement to enter an interconnection agreement; no utility approval, fee or extra equipment; outside the net-metering program
